Another stop during our trip to New Orleans was Sucre. My personal connection to Sucre is that I have worked in the past with their website developer. The company had a big boost a few years back after being featured on Oprah.

The shop and cafe ended up being lovely in terms of both offerings and design.

It was dark by the time we were able to stop in.

The macarons were front and center, naturally.

Many other confections were also available. The presentation and design in these is also beautiful.

I imagine that signs with ingredient lists are quite important, to alert anyone about potential allergic reactions. These are informative and attractive.

There were many lovely gift options available as well.

We took our box of macarons and wandered off into the rain – we enjoyed them later on as a way to tide ourselves over until dinner. They were intensely delicious.

Happy trails!

Vegas New Orleans | In My Travels

We traveled to New Orleans in December, and one of my only required stops was to go to Magazine Street and do some shopping. We ended up shopping for Will in a store called Vegas – funny enough since we were only a few weeks out from our Las Vegas vow renewal.

We not only had great success, but I was super charmed by the aesthetic of the store itself.

It was another grey day in New Orleans, but that’s the perfect time for shopping.

Lovely natural light from these huge windows.

While I was busy enjoying the interior and display designs, Will was shopping and finding great items. The selection in the store was a mix of classic items with those that were a bit more quirky, and brands I had never seen or heard of before. Will ended up buying 2 shirts that are new favorites.

I could not sell Will on the gold jacket.

These hats were perfectly tongue-in-cheek.

The commitment is real when even the business cards are this good.

The happy customer. If you’re in the market for men’s clothing in New Orleans, definitely go and check out Vegas on Magazine Street.

Happy trails!

Brennan’s in New Orleans | In My Travels

I set up a surprise trip to New Orleans last month, to celebrate Will’s birthday (and also mine, to be honest). During multiple visits to New Orleans, we had heard about the famous breakfast at Brennan’s, but hadn’t managed to actually eat there. We stopped in while we were there to try and get reservations, and ended up having a proper birthday breakfast for Will on the morning that we left.

It did not disappoint in any way. Let’s take a look.

The famous pink exterior.

It was dark and rainy that day, but the holiday decor brightened everything up.

The interior is amazing and over the top, but perfectly so.

Look at these panels!

I’m not sure what the provenance of the bell necklaces are, but they were waiting for us at the table and put on us as soon as we were seated! I took these home, trimmed the ribbon, and made them into ornaments for my Christmas tree a few weeks later.

This is unfortunately blurry, but you can get the idea.

We both had eggs Benedict, but Will had the artisanal version. We had sides of bacon and grits.

I had told them it was Will’s birthday when we made the reservation, and so after breakfast they brought him this amazing dessert with a collar of cotton candy (with glitter!) and a candle. He also received a gift of a Brennan’s apron, which I can confirm he has been using.

After an incredible breakfast experience, we left, maximizing our last bits of this trip before heading back to the airport.

I cannot recommend enough that you have breakfast at Brennan’s when you visit New Orleans. It was delicious and special and completely worth our time.

Happy trails!

Palm Latitudes in Dunedin, Florida | In My Travels

A few months back, I had breakfast with some of my family in Dunedin, Florida. After breakfast, I took a side trip to Palm Latitudes, a longstanding store that is exceptionally Floridian. Sadly, they have no online presence for me to link to. However, I took a lot of photos, so let’s take a look.

Subtlety is nowhere to be found.

If you ever need to decorate a vacation rental and want to stick to a theme, look no further.

They sell clothing, decor, all manner of items.

Hats!

I love a mermaid anything, so I was excited about the mermaid merch.

I am really entertained by the shell bra on the plush one.

I got 2 new mermaid ornaments for my Christmas tree.

Do people still buy travel-themed gifts like this? I would totally have that octopus painting though.

I was not kidding about decorating your beach condo.

You can visit Palm Latitudes on your next trip to Dunedin, Florida.

Happy trails!

2016 Birthday Wishlist

by Jamie Sanford on December 2, 2016

Hello to my fellow December babies! My greatest wish is that your birthday isn’t overshadowed by other important dates in December.

I am lucky enough to have my birthday fall into the first week of the month, so I’ve never really had this issue. In addition, the general sense of not caring about birthdays hasn’t really been an issue for me, since my husband Will’s birthday is 2 days before mine. It’s a lot of fun when you get to celebrate with someone else every year.

Here’s my 2016 birthday wishlist!

This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using these links.

This Erin Condren planner is really popular with some content creators that I follow, and my current planner isn’t really working for me, so I’m excited to try this one instead. $55 at Amazon.

While I love my Sony NEX-6, and the images it creates, it isn’t the best for selfie videos because it lacks a pop-up screen. This might seem silly, but this is a wishlist, so I would like this Sony Alpha a5100 to replace it. $548 at Amazon.

How can I resist a Stevie Nicks enamel pin? This is available for $10 from BlackDressWildHeart on Etsy.

Almost every one of my wishlists features a David Yurman topaz ring, because they are gorgeous. This one has diamonds as well, and is available for $1,750 at Neiman Marcus.

Still lusting after many of the Tom Ford lipsticks, but the Tom Ford Lips & Boys Color Cream in Cary will have to do. Available for $36 at Neiman Marcus.

This last one is no biggie, just a few days at Giraffe Manor in Kenya. I cannot think of anywhere that I wish to travel to more than Giraffe Manor. I fed a giraffe one time and it was one of the most magical things I have ever experienced, and they just hang out at Giraffe Manor! While I’m there, we can take a side trip to Mahali Mzuri for a fuller safari experience.

That’s all for now – if I’m feeling extra wishy, a holiday wishlist might be soon to follow.
