Link Tank #54: Home and Interior Shopping Edition

by Jamie Sanford on September 9, 2019

Click here for all of the link posts on JamieSanford.com.

I recently bought a house with my husband, and have done more shopping than I expected to, and spent way more money than I expected as well. I’m told that all of this is normal.

So, what did I buy? Let’s get into it!

Zinus Suzanne Metal and Wood King Bed Frame. I will never regret upgrading to a king bed, I love it!

Command Picture-Hanging Strips. I’ve only used one set of these so far, but they were great. I’ll circle back when I decide to remove them from the wall.

BN-LINK Wireless Remote Control Outlet Kit. We got these to sort out selected outlets that don’t have a switch affiliated with them. A cute and simple solution.

Thermacell Mosquito Repelling Lantern. This was recommended by a colleague and we think it works? Plus, it’s cute.

Generic magic eraser sponges, set of 50! I think now that I might not have needed 50, but I have a basement for storage and now I won’t have to buy any more for at least a few years.

Krud Kutter, as recommended by Apartment Therapy. It doesn’t have a terrible smell and does good work in the kitchen!

Gorilla Grip Gripper Pad, for under the rug in my dressing room. So far, this is working excellently.

Marble-look contact paper. I had to recover the shelves in my linen closet, and this did the trick! It’s a bit more expensive than some of the other options online, but the quality is really great.

I have more items that I’ve purchased, naturally, but I intend to create some future posts about creating spaces in my home from start to finish, something I haven’t had so much experience with before!

POPSUGAR Must Have Box | Product Pick #15

by Jamie Sanford on October 5, 2016

Check out all of my Product Picks here. If you want to see all of the products I’ve reviewed (not just the ones I like), click here for Reviews.

I was excited to have received an offer in August to try out the POPSUGAR Must Have Box in September. It was even more fun when I wasn’t thinking about it and then it appeared on my doorstep!

The Must Have box is a curated collection of items, delivered each month at a significant discount. The monthly cost is $39.95 per box, but the box will contain at least $100 in item value. You can save $5 on the October box with code OCT5.

Unfortunately, my box appeared to have been through it a bit.

The sticker wasn’t holding the tissue closed, and it was a bit wrinkled when it arrived. I love seeing the box printed on the inside with “happiness delivered.” Many of the box subscriptions are meant to be fun surprises each month, and I love the idea that they are a bit of happiness in a box. It’s a unique opportunity to surprise yourself.

The printed insert with item information was lovely.

Here’s a peek at the information on each item in the box.

(Items in the box – minus the hat, which you will see in a moment.)

I really love this nail care set. I really needed an updated option to push my cuticles back and this is great.

The Smith & Cult lip lacquer will not be for everyone, because it is sticky. However, for those of us who were obsessed with MAC’s lipglass 20ish years ago, this will be a welcome texture. The color is also great.

How have I never seen a retractable lint roller before? This is great for those of us who have ever carried around a small version, only to have it get covered in fuzz and whatnot in your bag. This came pre-loaded with 30 sheets of stickiness.

Here’s a dramatic photo of me living a Carmen Sandiego fantasy in this hat from Jack & Lucy. I LOVE hats in general, and this one is bringing the drama with a wide brim, and has a nice additional detail in the top as well. I have worn this 4+ times since I received it, and I will continue to do so. This is absolutely my favorite part of the box.

The Gluten Free Bites were delicious and were quickly eaten, so that was a win. I’m still trying out the Briogeo deep conditioning mask and I will post a review on that soon. I will say that receiving products of this size for a price of $39.95 is a great deal and an easy way to try out new products.

Here is the list of items in the box, with their regular prices.

  • A Jack & Lucy Bicoastal Wide Brim Hat ($58)
  • NCLA Mani-ER Tool Kit ($16)
  • Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask ($36)
  • F’Lint Lint Roller ($10)
  • Smith & Cult Lip Lacquer in The Warning ($22)
  • The Gluten Free Bites Dark Chocolate Coconut Bites ($5)

The total is $147! Much higher than even the guaranteed $100 value.

Although I loved this first one, I am still up in the air about subscribing every month to the POPSUGAR Must Have Box. They do have a Mini option that I may try in the meantime, although I know it will not be nearly as significant as the original box.

If you would like to purchase a Must Have Box, click here! Remember to use code OCT5 to receive $5 off on the October box.

I received this box free of charge from POPSUGAR for review. All opinions are my own.

2015 Home Wishlist

by Jamie Sanford on December 7, 2015

Holiday wishlist time! I update my Amazon Wishlist all year long, I think myself very useful for giving everyone at least 50 ideas of things I would like to receive. I am perfectly aware that not everyone wants to buy me a $2000 lens, but that’s why it is a wishlist.

Let’s focus on what is on my home wishlist for 2015.

Swanky bedding! We use quilts and not comforters – I find them so comforting now.

Fornasetti everything, at all times!

I’m pretty into Jonathan Adler stuff too.

Just mermaid things. I currently do not own a home where I can mount the weathervane but I never knew how much I wanted one until right now.

Christmas decor! We are totally minimal on decor this year because we are traveling, but I WILL have a black Christmas tree at some point. I also have a big ambition to mount a tree to the ceiling, upside down. It will happen!

What is on your home wishlist for the holidays? Share in the comments!

Roomspiration: Expedit by IKEA

by Jamie Sanford on May 27, 2013

Today, I’m going to talk about everyone’s favorite IKEA product: EXPEDIT. I have an installation of EXPEDIT in my living room, a 4×4 shelving unit with the EXPEDIT desk attached. The desk is incredibly big and I love it.

This is a very old picture of the EXPEDIT in my living room. This isn’t really my desk anymore – Will uses this space 99.5% of the time. We have Billy bookshelves all along the back wall there. (I am totally IKEA’s bitch.)

The reason I wanted to talk about it was that I love the different ways I see EXPEDIT used in different ways. Bedrooms, offices, kitchens, as a room divider, etc. Here’s a collection of EXPEDIT images from Pinterest.
